Hi!

I'm Rupak Mishra, a product builder, designer and problem solver, based out of India.

For the last ~4.5 years, I worked at Synaptic as a product designer, then a product owner, building a company sourcing software used by VCs and PEs. In that time, I designed and shipped:

By the end, I owned product strategy, quarterly roadmaps and execution, and led a team of 11 (Design, Frontend, Backend, QA).

Before that, I worked as a wayfinding designer / signage consultant at VersionAbsolute Design Studio, designing sign systems for large retail, commercial and institutional projects. Most of my fundamentals in information and interface design were built here. Although the medium in this case was physical, a lot of skills translated well to the digital domain.

I studied Architecture at the School of Planning and Architecture, Delhi. My thesis project was an exploration of developing curiosity via built space. I proposed a Science and Technology Centre in the IIT Delhi Campus for disseminating the university's latest research to the common public through interactive installations.

In my free time, you can find me building tools, plugins, miniature software, interactive demos or just tinkering with AI. Of late, I've started making educational / edutainment videos on Youtube and Instagram. I also sometimes post on Substack.

I love building software, working at the intersection of design and technology, and pushing the boundaries of human-computer interaction. I believe digital tech will undergo a radical overhaul with time, changing how we conceive of and interact with technology. And while at this moment, I can't imagine what forms it will take, I would like to be one of the people building it.

WORK

Synaptic | 2021 – 2026:

  • Led the beta launch of the Synaptic MCP server, allowing customers to access Synaptic data via their preferred AI applications like Claude, ChatGPT, etc. This new distribution channel ensured $1M+ ARR retention from top-tier VC firms.
  • Designed & led the release of Company Screener 2.0, building it around natural language chat and advanced filters. This new version got to 65% preferred adoption within 6 months of release.
  • Led the release of business overview fields for companies, allowing users to better understand a company's offerings and market positioning.
  • Conceptualized and shipped a new company search model which improved result accuracy by 21 percentage points over the previous model (77% -> 98%, P@Top100). Read more
  • Led the design and delivery of an improved company onboarding pipeline, which increased processing speed by 30x and saved $400K in operating costs. Read more
  • Designed a new mobile companion app extending Synaptic's web application, achieving ~30% customer adoption within 6 months of release. App Store Play Store
  • Designed reusable chart components for complex data visualizations on the Synaptic mobile app; published the library on Figma community, reaching 6,000+ users. Component library
  • Designed an improved authentication system supporting email/password, magic link 2FA, SAML and OAuth (Google, Okta, Microsoft). Over 300+ organizations eventually used this system.

VersionAbsolute Design Studio | 2019 – 2021

  • Designed campus-wide multilingual wayfinding and navigation system for Amrita Hospital, India's largest private hospital (3.6M sq ft across a 130-acre campus) supporting ~15K daily occupants and visitors. Read more
  • Designed building-wide integrated physical and digital wayfinding system for DNR Altitude (800,000 sq ft commercial campus across 20 floors) serving ~7,000 daily visitors. Read more
  • Managed end-to-end project delivery: client presentations, site visits, and coordination with 10+ external stakeholder organizations (architects, developers, consultants, vendors)
